How do I remove Pepsi from a carpet?

Soda stains on a carpet from products such as Pepsi are a fairly common occurrence. When they happen though, there is no reason to go running to the phone to call your carpet cleaner. You can clean them yourselves with just a few things that you already probably have in your home. First, you will need some white paper towels or white cotton towels. Next, you will need some dish soap to make a spotter. Fill a 32 ounce spray bottle with water and then add a tablespoon of dish soap. Use regular dish soap, do not use laundry soap or automatic dishwasher soap. Finally, you will need a vinegar solution made from one part white distilled vinegar and three parts water. Mix this in a spray bottle. Now that you have your supplies, you are ready to begin.
Step One: If the spot is fresh, you want to blot up as much of the Pepsi spill as possible with your paper or cotton towels. Be sure to blot and not rub because rubbing can cause damage to the carpet. Keep blotting until no more of the stain transfers.
Step Two: Spray the spot lightly with your dish soap spotter and allow it to dwell for a few seconds. Blot the spot and repeat until no more of the Pepsi stain transfers. Be cautious not to over wet the area. This could cause the spot to wick back up later.
Step Three: Now, you will use your vinegar solution to neutralize the spotter and prevent the area from resoiling. Mist the solution on the spot and allow it to dwell for a few seconds. Then blot up the solution and repeat one more time.
Step Four: Finally, you will allow the spot to dry before putting the carpet back to use. If you have a portable fan, use it to direct air to the spot to speed drying.
