Baseboard Cleaning

Baseboards are a very visible part of your room. This is especially true if you have two toned walls which most homes have these days. Nice and clean baseboards can make your wall’s paint color pop and improve the appearance of your room. Dirty baseboards however can make your entire room look bad. So, if it has been awhile since you have cleaned your baseboards, let’s get started.
First, we need to gather the needed supplies. You only need a few things to do this job. You will need a small bucket, some dish soap, a sponge and a dry cotton towel. Fill the bucket with water and add a teaspoon of dish soap. Do not overfill the bucket, because you will be carrying it all over the home. You do not want to splash it everywhere.
Now, you can clean your baseboards. Work around the room wiping the baseboard off with your sponge dampened with the soapy water. Follow this with a wipe from your dry cotton towel. Be sure to empty and refill the bucket when the water becomes overly soiled. Take your time and be thorough for the best results.
Quick Tips

  • If you find that you are dripping water excessively, place towels down along the edge of the wall.
  • Soapy water can leave a soil attracting residue on carpet so be careful to avoid drips.
  • If your baseboards are only slightly soiled, a brushing with a soft broom can do the trick.
  • Regular dusting can prevent baseboards from needing a more thorough clenaing as often.
