Paint Removal From Carpet
How do you remove wet latex paint from a carpet? If you are reading this, you may have just spilled latex paint on your carpet. It is all too easy to tip over a gallon of paint onto your carpet during a home improvement project. Time is of the essence in this sort of situation so I will be brief. Here is what you need to do.
1. Scoop up as much of the paint as possible with a spoon, piece of cardboard, etc. Do not rub the carpet, just get what you can off of the surface.
2. Soak a towel with water and wring it out. Place the towel over the wet paint. This will keep the paint from drying.
3. Call a carpet cleaner with a portable or truck mounted steam cleaning machine. Truck mounted machines are preferred because they are more powerful. Try to find a cleaner who can get there within a few hours.
You might be tempted to clean the spot yourself, but you should know that this often ends badly. If you do not get all of the paint out, it will dry and ruin your carpet. Home equipment is typically not powerful enough to remove paint and attempting paint removal could ruin the equipment.
