Will carpet cleaning get rid of fleas?
If you have a flea problem in your home, you might think that a good old-fashioned carpet cleaning will remove them. Well, I am here to tell you that it probably will not by itself. Sure, carpet cleaning will rid your home of many of the fleas and some of the eggs. The problem is that’s there will also be fleas and eggs on your pets, and your furniture and in a number of other places in your home. So how do you get rid of fleas?
First, you have to consider how the fleas got into your home in the first place. In most cases, you will have a pet who brought them into your house. This means that you need to treat the pet for fleas before doing anything else. Flea baths and flea collars however are not the best choice. You should gets a flea treatment from your veterinarian. There are several different brands available. Some will just kill the fleas but some will also sterilize them so that they cannot breed.
Now that you have found and neutralized the source, you can begin getting rid of the fleas in your home. Your best bet is to hire an exterminator to come in and spray. If you cannot afford to hire an exterminator or want to do it yourself, you can gets a flea bomb. Follow the directions on the can explicitly when going this route.
Finally, now that you have neutralized the source and killed the majority of fleas in your home, you can have the carpets cleaned. This should remove the rest of the fleas and eggs in your carpet.
So you see, carpet cleaning will not get rid of fleas on its own but it is a step in the process.
