Paint Brush Cleaning
Painting is a relatively inexpensive way to change a room in your home or to spice up the exterior of your house. Just buy a little paint, slap it on the wall and you have entirely different look. It is not, however, a cheap decorating option if you constantly have to buy new brushes and rollers. So, read this short article and learn how to clean your paint brushes properly after using them.
Luckily, cleaning paintbrushes is quite easy. For latex paint simply wash the brushes in soapy water. The easiest way to do this is to take them to an outside faucet, place a drop or two of a mild dish soap on the brush and agitate the brush fibers with your hand, while holding it under the faucet. The trick with cleaning brushes is not in the method, it is in the timing. Just as soon as you are done using the brush, clean it out and you will find that it cleans up very easily.
If you are using an oil-based paint, you will probably need to use a little solvent to get it clean. Clean them using a paint thinner and then rinse them thoroughly.
Whenever you find that you will not be able to clean the brushes immediately, wrap them in plastic to keep the paint from drying out. Plastic wrap or an old plastic grocery bag will work well for this task. Be sure to not forget about the brushes though and get back to them as soon as possible.
