Dryer Vent Cleaning
Over time, lint builds up in the vent pipe that your dryer is hooked up to. It can dramatically build up on vents that take sharp turns or run long distances. When it does build up, it can hurt the efficiency of your dryer and can even become a fire hazard. It also makes your dryer work harder, shortening its life.
How do you know if you need to have your dryer vent cleaned?
The biggest sign that you need to have your vent cleaned is if your clothes are taking much longer to dry. Are towels in particular taking two cycles to dry? Another sign that your dryer vent is clogged is that you will notice a decrease in air velocity on the outside of the vent. This can be hard to tell though.
How are dryer vents cleaned?
First, your carpet cleaner will remove the vent from your dryer. Next they will use brushes or an air whip to loosen the accumulated lint in the vent. They will insert the brushes or whips into the vent and work it up towards the end. At the same time, they will use powerful vacuums to vacuum the lint and contaminants away. Finally, after a thorough clean up, your dryer is reconnected to the vent and tested for proper operation.
